BREAKING NEWS... Two metrobuses collide in Beylikdüzü: Casualties reported
A collision between two metrobuses in Haramidere, Beylikdüzü, Istanbul, has left 20 people injured, 2 of them critically, and resulted in 1 fatality. Emergency teams are continuing their response at the scene.
A major accident occurred this morning near the Haramidere station on the metrobus line, one of Istanbul's busiest public transport routes. According to information obtained, two metrobuses collided head-on for reasons yet to be determined.
Following the accident, a large number of police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. While injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance, fire crews worked intensely to extract citizens trapped in the vehicles.
A statement from the Istanbul Governor's Office reported that 20 people were injured in the accident, 2 of whom are in critical condition, and that one citizen has lost their life.
A security perimeter was established at the scene, and the accident caused disruptions to metrobus services. Traffic congestion has spilled over from the metrobus line onto the D-100 Highway.
WHAT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT?
Officials from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Governor's Office stated that a detailed investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. Initial assessments are focusing on the possibilities of driver error or a technical malfunction.
