The incident took place within the Dörtyol Industrial Zone located in the Arifiye district. According to the information obtained, a young man named Ahmet Yılmazkaya, who saw flames rising from the area and thought a shop in the industrial zone was on fire, headed toward the scene. Seeing that a car was burning, Yılmazkaya began recording these moments with his mobile phone camera.

At that moment, the owner of the vehicle, whose name could not be learned and who claimed to have set fire to the car he bought on installments as a protest against Israel, approached Yılmazkaya with the cry "Down with Israel" and stated, "My Lord knows my intention. Truth is God's sword on earth; whatever it strikes, it cuts. I am ashamed to drive around in a car that I bought on installments and have not yet finished paying for. I am burning this for that oppression."
