TKP protests hotel fire in front of Ministry: 'First you will learn to feel shame!'

Reactions are growing like an avalanche to the Grand Kartal Hotel fire in Bolu, which claimed the lives of 76 people. The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has also reacted to the tragedy. The TKP Ankara Provincial Organization held a protest in front of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to condemn the disaster in Bolu. 

During the protest held in front of the ministry's headquarters, slogans such as 'Do not bow down, hold the murderers accountable' and 'Killer bosses, killer AKP' were chanted. TKP members, who held the protest behind a banner reading 'Enough with you killing this country', issued a press statement. 

TKP Central Committee Member and Ankara Provincial Chair Ali Ufuk Arikan delivered a speech at the protest. 

Stating that they were at a crime scene, Arikan said, "We are at the doorstep of those who caused the lives of the 76 citizens we lost in Bolu yesterday to come to an end. A total of 76 of our citizens have left us because of this system that disregards human life and the lives of the workers employed there."

Saying "The murderers are clear, the murderers are in plain sight," Arikan expressed that they have been both devastated and increasingly angry since yesterday.

'WE ARE ANGRY AT THE MURDERERS WHO AVOID TAKING RESPONSIBILITY!'

Arikan continued his words as follows:

"We are angry; we are angry at the government that does not announce the real losses so that their congresses are not disrupted and their comfort is not spoiled. We are angry; we are angry that our people's lives are considered so worthless and workers' lives so cheap. We are angry; we are angry at the minister sitting in that chair here who says 'The responsibility is not mine, it is the municipality's,' and at the mayor who says 'We have no news of it'... We are angry at the murderers who avoid taking responsibility. We are angry and we learn that the owners of this hotel, which became the grave of 76 people, have been receiving state subsidies for years!"

Emphasizing that they made a promise last week, Arikan said, "We call on all our friends who object to this system, to this massacre system, who say 'I object to these deaths, I object to this system, I object to this poverty,' to join the struggle together."

Emphasizing that the system produces great shamelessness, Arikan spoke as follows:

"They feel no shame, and on the morning of a day when they surrendered the public to death, they start looking for culprits without looking in the mirror. We are at the door of one of those who do not look in the mirror today, Minister Ersoy, who is a hotel chain boss... There is not the slightest meaning in trying to create a culprit; we know the culprit, we know the murderers. Look in the mirror, Minister Ersoy, look in the mirror.

And do not forget, you are not being tried for these murders and these acts of negligence in peace right now, but this system will not last forever; in the government of the workers, in the government of our people, you will be tried for all these crimes."

TKP ISTANBUL PROVINCIAL ORGANIZATION ALSO CALLED FOR PROTEST

On the other hand, in addition to Ankara, the TKP Istanbul Provincial Organization also issued a call for this evening (January 22, 2025) at 19:30 at Taksim Tünel Square.
