Yeniden Refah Party submits legislative proposal against trustee appointments
Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) Istanbul MP Doğan Bekin has submitted a legislative proposal to amend the law that paves the way for the appointment of trustees, following recent developments.
Reactions are growing like an avalanche against the trustee appointments that began with Esenyurt Municipality and continued with Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, Batman Municipality, and Şanlıurfa Halfeti Municipality. Following the legislative proposal submitted by the DEM Party yesterday, a move came today from the Yeniden Refah Party (YRP).
Yeniden Refah Party Istanbul MP Doğan Bekin submitted the Legislative Proposal for Amendments to the Municipalities Law to the Speaker of the Parliament against the trustees appointed to local administrations.
In his statement, Bekin used the following expressions:
"It has become mandatory to make a legal regulation to end the appointment of trustees to local administrations and to show respect for the will of the people. This legal regulation must be of a nature that will ensure the independence of local administrations and the protection of the democratic process, and guarantee the public's right to vote and be elected."
