Young woman killed by her cousin laid to rest

The incident occurred last night in the Kavakpınar neighborhood of the Pendik district. According to reports, 18-year-old Duygu Şahin, who lived in the İnegöl district of Bursa, had come to Istanbul to visit relatives.

Şahin, who began staying with the family of Talip Y., went to an entertainment venue with her cousin, Talip Y. An argument broke out between Talip Y. and Duygu Şahin upon their return home.

As the argument quickly escalated into a fight, Şahin fainted after being struck. Talip Y. then stabbed Şahin in the back. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene following reports. Şahin, who received initial treatment at the scene, was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

In the work carried out by police teams, Talip Y. was apprehended along with the knife used in the incident. Despite all interventions, Şahin lost her life after being taken to the hospital.

In his statement to the police, Talip Y. claimed that he had a romantic relationship with his cousin Duygu Şahin, that they had gone out to have fun before the incident, and that they had consumed alcohol together. He stated that when they returned home, Şahin told him she had another boyfriend and had recently broken up with him, which made him angry, leading him to beat Şahin and then stab her after she fainted.

After completing procedures at the police station, Talip Y. was referred to court, where he was arrested and sent to prison.

Following an examination at the Council of Forensic Medicine, the young woman's body was handed over to her family. Her funeral was brought to the rural Mezit neighborhood of İnegöl, Bursa. Following the funeral prayer held at the neighborhood mosque after the noon prayer, the young woman was laid to rest in the local cemetery.
