In a written statement on his Telegram account, Zelenskyy recalled that the meeting took place before the funeral ceremony of Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of Catholics and Head of State of the Vatican, in the Vatican.

Zelenskyy described his meeting with Trump as a "good meeting." Noting that the two leaders discussed many important topics, Zelenskyy emphasized that they exchanged views, particularly on ending the war and taking concrete steps to prevent the recurrence of conflicts in the region.
Drawing attention to the importance of the meeting, Zelenskyy stated that the goal is to achieve a full and unconditional ceasefire and to establish a lasting, reliable environment of peace.
