Breaking News... March inflation announced: Remained below expectations

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the inflation data for the March 2026 period. The inflation figures, which millions of citizens were eagerly awaiting, were being closely monitored, particularly due to price increases in oil and other products.

In March, annual inflation was 30.87 percent, while monthly inflation was 1.94 percent.

MARCH INFLATION INCREASE WAS 1.94 PERCENT

According to TÜİK data, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 1.94 percent in March compared to the previous month. This increase was recorded in connection with the rise in the prices of many products. Inflation was expected to be higher, especially due to the impact of the increase in oil prices.

ANNUAL INFLATION WAS 30.87 PERCENT

The annual inflation rate was determined to be 30.87 percent as of March 2026.

ENAG AND ITO INFLATION FIGURES AGAIN HIGHER THAN TÜİK

The Inflation Research Group (ENAG), consisting of independent academics, had announced the March 2026 inflation as 4.10 percent monthly and 54.62 percent annually just before TÜİK.

According to the data announced yesterday by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO), which is referred to as a leading indicator, March inflation was 2.97 percent.

INFLATION EXPECTATIONS

The March inflation expectation survey, conducted by Finans and participated in by 32 economists, has concluded.

The average of the monthly inflation forecasts for March by the experts participating in the survey was determined to be 2.40 percent. In the assessments made among economists, monthly increase expectations ranged between 2.04 percent and 3 percent.
