Pension system changing: Government preparing radical reform for retirement salaries

The government has accelerated its efforts to make radical changes to the pension system. The Presidency, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and the AK Party are conducting research on three fronts to address retirement pensions and make the system more equitable.

The goal is to reduce the gap between the pensions of those who paid low premiums and those who paid high premiums, and to ensure a uniform raise for all retirees.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has established a commission to conduct a comprehensive study on retirement pensions.

The commission will address issues such as regulations across the pension system, coefficient adjustments for pensions, and the imbalance between the lowest pension and other retirement pensions. These efforts are expected to bring about a significant regulation for retirees.

Government officials stated that the current top priority for both the party and the government is retirement pensions. AKP officials said they are focusing on the need to improve the living conditions of retirees and that various formulas are being evaluated for this purpose.

The government is conducting impact analyses to increase retirement pensions and ensure equality.

Meetings held by AKP deputies with citizens and incoming complaints have shown that the salary gap between retirees who paid low premiums and those who paid high premiums has become a serious issue.

It is stated that this gap needs to be narrowed and that pensions should be reorganized based on premium payments. The work being done on this issue is expected to ensure that retirees receive a fairer pension.

THE GAP BETWEEN SSK, BAĞ-KUR, AND EMEKLİ SANDIĞI RAISES WILL BE CLOSED

In the salary increases made at the beginning of this year, civil servant retirees received an 18.60 percent raise, while worker and Bağ-Kur retirees received a 12.19 percent raise. Within the scope of the new study, it is planned to eliminate the difference between the raises given to SSK, Bağ-Kur, and Emekli Sandığı retirees. Thus, it is aimed to provide a uniform raise to all retirees and eliminate salary imbalances.

Trade and social security reforms are planned to be fully implemented by 2027, when the economic program is expected to bear fruit. However, some improvements for retirees are expected to come to the agenda starting from the second half of this year.

Additionally, it is stated that the implementation known as the "citizenship salary" is also among the regulations planned to be put into effect.
