Hundreds of vehicles worth approximately 100 million liras await their owners at a Diyarbakır impound lot

At an impound lot in the city, hundreds of vehicles worth millions of liras—ranging from ambulances and tractors to motorcycles and trucks—are waiting to be claimed while exposed to the elements.

Impound lot owner Burhan Bayram explained that the facility is where vehicles seized through legal enforcement are brought. Noting that vehicles are brought in for various reasons, including smuggling, narcotics, lack of insurance, and being banned from traffic, Bayram pointed out that some vehicles have been sitting there for years.
Stating that there are even vehicles dating back to 2008, Bayram said, "Currently, there are 400-500 vehicles in my impound lot. They are worth 100 million liras. National wealth is lying here, left to its own devices. Perhaps they will all be sold through enforcement proceedings and we will be relieved as well. Luxury vehicles you wouldn't even imagine come here."

Ferdi Güneri, who has a vehicle at the impound lot, stated that his car has been there for two months. Explaining that a relative had placed a lien on his car, Güneri said, "It will go up for sale in a month. We will pay what is owed and get our car out. It is sitting in the impound lot. We came and checked, there is no problem with our car."
