Mehmet Şimşek announces what inflation will fall to in 2026

Receiving an honorary doctorate at Batman University, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek gave a presentation titled "Global Challenges and Turkey." Şimşek evaluated his economic expectations and policies for 2026 to Sabah Newspaper.

Minister Şimşek stated that the economic program will begin to yield positive results in 2026, saying, "2026 will be a year where the cost of living is felt less and inflation will fall below 20 percent. It will be a year in which our low- and fixed-income people will especially be strengthened." He also noted that growth will accelerate and an economic recovery will take place.

Şimşek emphasized that the reconstruction of the earthquake zone will be completed and fiscal discipline will be strengthened. Expressing that concerns regarding financial stability will decrease, Şimşek said, "It will be a year in which fiscal discipline will be strengthened and concerns and hesitations regarding financial stability will further diminish."

EMPHASIS ON INVESTMENT IN THE EAST AND SOUTHEAST

Minister Şimşek also touched upon the vision of a Turkey without terrorism, drawing attention to the importance of infrastructure investments to be made in the East and Southeast regions. "The country's resources will be channeled into development. Primarily into the development of the region. Two trillion dollars were spent on the fight against terrorism in 47 years," he said.

Stating that the East and Southeast will be the new engine of growth, Şimşek said, "With the youngest population, fertile lands, favorable climate, and no security concerns, investors will come from all four corners of the world. The East and Southeast will be Turkey's new manufacturing and industrial hub." He stated that a Turkey without terrorism will provide development not only for the country but also for the region through economic integration.
