Mehmet Şimşek provides new forecast and timeline for single-digit inflation

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek is continuing his investor meetings abroad in London, the capital of the United Kingdom.

Meeting with investors at a Chatham House event, Şimşek made statements regarding the Turkish economy.

According to the report on ekonomim.com, the highlights from Minister Şimşek's statements are as follows:

"We are on the verge of sustained and strong disinflation. It is likely that inflation will be in the mid-teens next year, and in single digits thereafter.

If protectionist trends remain strong, we are on the verge of moving away from globalization."

Şimşek also responded to a question regarding why Turkey is not a member of BRICS by stating that Turkey's main partner is the European Union (EU) and that it cannot separate from the EU.

Having returned to London following his visit in October 2023, Şimşek's meetings, which began today, will continue until Friday.

Within the scope of meetings organized by investment banks JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, and Dome Group, Şimşek will meet with investors.

During the meetings, Şimşek will come together with portfolio investors, major global investment funds, and credit rating agencies.

He will also attend the London Conference of Chatham House, one of the world's leading think tanks, and explain the recent developments in the Turkish economy and the economic program to the high-level participants there.

Since taking office, Minister Şimşek has been attending investor meetings in Europe, the Middle East, and the USA to explain the country's economic program and investment opportunities.
