Mehmet Şimşek's persuasion tour begins: Second stop is New York

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek continues his search for hot money abroad. Having turned his route to New York following investor meetings in London, Minister Şimşek is intensifying his contacts with global financial circles to attract capital to Turkey.

In his meetings with investors holding portfolios exceeding 58 trillion dollars, Şimşek provided a detailed explanation of Turkey's medium-term economic outlook. The investment potential for Turkey was discussed in meetings with delegations representing over 500 portfolios.

MEETINGS WITH CREDIT RATING AGENCIES

In addition to his contacts in London, Minister Şimşek also met with the world's financial rating authorities. Holding private meetings with senior executives from the world's three most prestigious credit rating agencies—Standard & Poor’s (S&P), Moody’s, and Fitch Ratings—Şimşek shared the goals of Turkey's "Macroeconomic Stability and Reform Program." These meetings addressed how Turkey's economic reforms are evaluated by international investors and credit rating agencies.

Having completed his program in London, the Treasury and Finance Minister moved on to New York as the second stop of his persuasion tour. On the agenda for Şimşek, who will meet with US-based fund institutions there, is the disinflation process targeted in Turkey. In his meetings with US investors, Şimşek will explain Turkey's economic stability and the steps taken in the fight against inflation.
