Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır: We discussed the issue of Chinese firms investing in our country in the coming period with our counterparts

Minister Kacır made evaluations to AA and TRT regarding his meetings in Beijing with his Chinese counterparts, Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun and Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong.

Stating that he shared Turkey's breakthroughs in research, development, and innovation, as well as the level reached in industrial and technological capacity with his counterparts during the meetings, Kacır said, "I explained to them the work we are carrying out in Turkey, especially the areas where we are pioneers in the world. I saw that they are also closely following the capabilities Turkey has achieved and the level it has reached."

Pointing out that China is one of the countries that has made significant investments in the field of high technology in recent times and has thus become one of the world's leading countries in many advanced technologies, Kacır said, "China is a country that owns many electric vehicle brands. At the same time, it is a world leader in battery production. We evaluated with our counterparts how we can act together regarding Chinese firms investing in our country in the coming period."

Underlining that he focused particularly on electric vehicle and battery investments during his visit, Kacır noted the following:

"Battery technologies are an integral part of electric vehicle production. We want to make Turkey a production hub in the field of electric vehicles and batteries. Turkey's automobile, Togg, has been an important step we have taken in this field and has accelerated the transformation of Turkey's automotive industry. In the coming period, we aim to increase production capacity in Turkey in both electric vehicles and batteries with new investments."

Renewable energy technologies

Pointing out that renewable energy technologies also stand out as a potential area of cooperation, Kacır said, "Turkey is currently the leader in Europe and the fourth in the world in solar energy. We are also one of the world's ambitious producer countries in wind energy; we are in the top five in Europe in the production of wind turbine components. China is in a leading position in the production of solar panels. We believe that we can carry our capabilities in renewable energy technologies to more advanced levels through joint projects."

Reminding that China is the first country in the world to commission a fourth-generation nuclear reactor using molten salt reactors, and that Turkey is building its first nuclear power plant in Akkuyu in cooperation with Russia, which will soon be operational, Kacır emphasized that innovative nuclear systems could be a potential area of cooperation between Turkey and China.

Stating that Turkey and China could also carry out joint work in rail system technologies, Kacır said, "Today, Turkey is a country that can produce its own electric locomotives with its own means. We produced our electric trains with a speed of 160 kilometers/hour with our own means and put them on the tracks. Now, we will also make a significant effort in the development and production of high-speed trains. We are not closed to international cooperation in all these processes."

Pointing out that there are cooperation opportunities between Turkey and China in many other fields, Kacır noted that the health industry is one of them, and that joint work could be carried out in the fields of vaccines, medicine, and medical devices.

"Turkey is the gateway to Europe for Chinese brands"

Pointing out that Turkey offers great opportunities for Chinese brands in terms of industrial investments, Kacır said, "As a member of the Customs Union, Turkey is the gateway to the European Union for Chinese brands."

Stating that they also discussed the opportunities Turkey can offer to Chinese firms in terms of investment during their meetings, Kacır concluded his words as follows:

"We are making this visit to establish more advanced cooperation than today in all these areas between China and Turkey in the coming period. We discussed all these efforts in our meetings with both ministers. We evaluated how joint scientific calls and joint R&D projects can be increased and how they can be moved from today's level to a more advanced point. I believe that these efforts of ours will yield results in the coming period."

Will conduct inspections at industrial facilities

Following Beijing, Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır will visit industrial facilities in the cities of Shanghai, Zhenjiang, Wuhu, Lingang, Ningbo, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou, and will meet with executives and officials of Chinese companies.

Prioritizing electric vehicle and battery production in his program in China, Kacır will visit the electric vehicle battery production facility of Farasis Energy, a project partner of Turkey's domestic and national automobile Togg, in the city of Zhenjiang in China's Jiangsu province.

Kacır will also conduct inspections at the electric vehicle factories of leading state-owned Chinese automotive companies such as Chery, SAIC Motor, Zeekr (Geely), and GAC Motor.

Kacır, who will visit the campus where the Chinese technology company Huawei exhibits the new technologies it has developed in the fields of communication, cloud computing, and automotive, will meet with the company's Board of Directors.
