New calculations for minimum wage and pension: Here are the figures being discussed

Ahead of the process to determine the minimum wage to be applied in 2027, expectations for a raise have begun to emerge. Making assessments before the work of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which is expected to convene in December, SGK Chief Specialist İsa Karakaş predicted that the minimum wage could be increased by at least 30 percent for the new year.

OVER 36 THOUSAND TL ON THE AGENDA FOR MINIMUM WAGE

According to the report on TGRT Haber, if İsa Karakaş's 30 percent raise prediction comes true, the minimum wage, which is currently 28 thousand 75 TL net, will rise to 36 thousand 497 TL in 2027.

Karakaş stated that an increase at this rate would not be sufficient to improve the living conditions of employees.

LIVING COST FOR A SINGLE EMPLOYEE COULD RISE TO 55 THOUSAND TL

Stating that the monthly living cost of a single employee is currently at the level of approximately 49 thousand TL, Karakaş predicted that this amount could reach at least 55 thousand TL in February.

30 THOUSAND TL CALCULATION FOR THE LOWEST PENSION

In his assessment for 2027, Karakaş also shared his expectations regarding pensions.

Reminding that the lowest pension is currently 23 thousand 552 TL, Karakaş pointed out that this amount corresponds to approximately 84 percent of the minimum wage.

Calculating that the lowest pension should be raised to the level of 30 thousand 608 TL if this ratio is maintained, Karakaş's assessments revealed the expectations regarding the increases that may come to the agenda for both the minimum wage and pensions in the new year.
