Price hike for public bread in Ankara
The price of 250-gram public bread, previously sold for 5 TL in Ankara, has been increased.
Following the increase in the price of 210-gram bread to 8 liras in Ankara as of January 1, Ankara Public Bread (Ankara Halk Ekmek) has announced that it will sell its 250-gram bread, previously priced at 5 liras, for 6.5 TL starting tomorrow.
The statement issued by Ankara Public Bread noted the following:
"Ankara Metropolitan Municipality provides a significant contribution to our citizens' budgets with the 250-gram standard bread produced at the Public Bread factory. Due to the high increase in costs, the price of 210-gram standard bread sold in the market has been raised to 8 TL. Because of this increase, a price hike at Public Bread has become mandatory. The retail price of the 250-gram standard bread produced by Ankara Public Bread has been set at 6.5 TL, without profit, as of Friday, January 5."
