SCT revenues in the automotive sector reach record levels

As 2025 draws to a close, the activity in Turkey's automotive sector has made a significant contribution to the state's tax revenues. The increase in automobile sales has facilitated the achievement of budget targets. In particular, Special Consumption Tax (SCT) revenues from motor vehicles have already met year-end expectations.

While the automotive market recorded a growth of 9.63% in the first 11 months of the year, SCT revenues increased by 46.38%, exceeding a total of 655 billion TL. In November alone, 77 billion TL in SCT was collected. During the same period last year, this figure was 52 billion TL. Only 145 billion TL remains to reach the 800 billion TL target set for 2025, and this target is expected to be surpassed with strong sales anticipated in December.

Experts state that the difference between market growth and the increase in tax revenue stems from rising vehicle prices and changes in tax brackets. The fact that tax revenues increased by 46% despite the market growing by around 10% clearly demonstrates this situation.

Looking at the preferences of Turkish consumers, A, B, and C segment vehicles make up 82.7% of the market. In terms of body type preferences, SUV models maintain their lead; approximately 63 out of every 100 vehicles sold are SUVs. Sedan models account for 22.4%, while Hatchback models hold a 14.2% share.

In the distribution by fuel type, gasoline-powered cars lead with 47.2%, followed by hybrid vehicles in second place with 26.9%. The market share of electric cars has reached 17.8%.
