Statement on minimum wage from TÜRK-İŞ

The TÜRK-İŞ Presidential Board held a meeting at the Confederation's headquarters. In the final declaration published after the meeting, the principles that should be taken as a basis for determining the minimum wage and demands for income justice were highlighted.

The declaration emphasized the importance of the "Labor Meeting" rally held in Ankara on October 20, which was attended by more than 150 thousand people, stating that this event was a turning point in terms of solidarity and hope.

The Board stated that justice in income and taxation must be ensured and living conditions must be improved. Furthermore, it was announced that the Presidents of TÜRK-İŞ, HAK-İŞ, and DİSK will visit political party representatives and the Chair of the Planning and Budget Committee at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye on November 19-20. It was emphasized that these visits are important for bringing the joint proposals of the labor confederations to the agenda.

'LOW MINIMUM WAGE PERCEPTION IS UNACCEPTABLE'

In the declaration, it was stated that low wage recommendations from institutions such as the IMF, particularly regarding the minimum wage, are unacceptable. TÜRK-İŞ stated, "The minimum wage to be determined for 2025 must enable workers and their families to live humanely according to the economic and social conditions of the day, and must be at a level compatible with human dignity."

TÜRK-İŞ pointed out the importance of the principles that should be taken as a basis rather than announcing a figure, and stated that these principles will be defended in the commission's work.
