A striking detail in Mehmet Şimşek’s ‘English’ statement! These phrases are missing from the Turkish version...
Following the resignation of Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan, it was observed that the English statement released by Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek contained more details than his Turkish one.
Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan, who has been at the center of public attention due to allegations against her, has resigned by requesting to be relieved of her duties.
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek released two statements following Erkan’s resignation, one in Turkish and one in English.

In his Turkish statement, Şimşek used the phrase, “I wish success to the newly appointed Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Governor and their team, in line with my recommendation,” while he shared more detailed information regarding the new governor in his English statement.
The relevant section in his English statement is as follows:
“The new governor, a respected macroeconomist with exceptional knowledge and expertise, will be appointed in line with my recommendation.”
Shortly after Şimşek's statement, Fatih Karahan was appointed as the Governor of the CBRT.
