Those with tax debts should not miss this! Time is running out
Those who owe debts to tax offices can apply via digital channels or tax offices until August 31.
The final week has begun for the application process regarding the installment of certain public receivables tracked by tax offices. According to data from the Revenue Administration (GİB) of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, taxpayers who wish to benefit from the regulation must complete their applications by Monday, August 31.
The regulation covers public receivables that were due as of June 5 but remained unpaid as of June 16. Debts such as income tax, corporate tax, value-added tax (VAT), fees, traffic fines, occupation fees (ecrimisil), judicial fines, and student loans can be paid in installments under this scope.
Special consumption tax, provisional tax related to 2026 income or corporate tax, and the associated tax loss penalties, delay interest, and delay surcharges are not included in the deferral scope. Stamp taxes accrued on declarations related to these taxes and their delay surcharges are also excluded from the scope.
APPLICATIONS CAN BE MADE VIA DIGITAL CHANNELS
Taxpayers can benefit from installment options of up to 72 months for debts other than VAT. For value-added tax, the installment period is applied as 12 months. The annual deferral interest rate for installments has been set at 29 percent.
No collateral is required from taxpayers whose debt does not exceed 10 million liras. For debts above this amount, collateral is only required for half of the portion exceeding 10 million liras.
There is no obligation to go to a tax office for applications. Transactions can be performed electronically via the GİB website, the Digital Tax Office, or e-Devlet. Taxpayers logging into the Digital Tax Office can view their deferrable debts and select the installment option that suits them.
The deadline for the first payment of the restructured debts will be September 30. Subsequent installments will be paid monthly. If installments are not paid on time or in full, the deferral will be considered violated; however, failure to pay or underpayment of at most two installments in a calendar year will not be considered a violation.
