Trade Minister Bolat reiterates 'call for discounts' to all sectors: 'There is a serious bubble, we are monitoring it'

Trade Minister Bolat reiterates 'call for discounts' to all sectors: 'There is a serious bubble, we are monitoring it'

Speaking at a consultation meeting organized by the Konya Industrialists and Businessmen Association (KONSİAD), Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said that the problems that have persisted in the automotive sector for 2-2.5 years have been eliminated by the measures taken by the government.

Bolat stated, "Pay attention, 600 thousand vehicles have entered the market in the last 1-2 months. We are seeing discounts and campaigns of up to 15-20 percent in both the new and used car markets. The market has normalized, the bubble has disappeared."

Expressing that the same situation is being observed in real estate, Bolat continued:

"We made a call to the markets. Our President made a call to all sectors after the cabinet meeting, and chain markets, local markets, the retailers' federation, and the retailers' association began to announce major discount campaigns. We had expressed that we expect this from other sectors. We expect the same from suppliers and manufacturers.

The final link in the retail chain, and the links in the supply chain beneath it, should also enter into a similar trend. Because by constantly raising prices, sellers and firms are actually destroying their own customers and their own markets. It is thought that more money is being earned temporarily, but in reality, purchasing power is being destroyed, and the market and number of customers are slowly being reduced."

"THERE IS A SERIOUS BUBBLE, WE ARE MONITORING IT"

Using the expression, "Now, the white goods, textile, apparel, and furniture sectors are also announcing, 'We are joining this campaign.'" Bolat said, "We are monitoring these discount campaigns. We are requesting lists from those organizations and NGOs. We will publish the organizations that offer discounts and report their pre- and post-campaign prices on the Trade Ministry's website. Therefore, we once again invite all companies, whether in retail, other fields, or the services sector, to normalize in the 100th year of our Republic, to eliminate the price bubble, and to offer discounts to ensure our people can shop more."

Pointing out that there is a serious bubble in the services sector, Bolat said, "Inflation in restaurants, hotels, and other service establishments is at least 20 points above the normal CPI. Organizations in the services sector should also heed our call. We expect the same from them at this point."

Stating that there can be no economic stability or economic development without political stability, Bolat said that if there is unrest within a family, it cannot move forward and will fall apart, and that political stability is very important for this.
