Which investment vehicle performed best this week? Stocks, gold, and foreign currency closed the week with gains
This week, among investment vehicles, shares on Borsa Istanbul rose by an average of 0.07 percent, gram gold by 0.62 percent, the dollar/TL rate by 0.51 percent, and the euro/TL rate by 0.20 percent.
Stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul gained an average of 0.07 percent on a weekly basis, while gold, foreign currency, and funds also provided returns to investors.
The BIST 100 index saw its lowest level of the week at 9,990.12 points and its highest level at 10,407.44 points. It finished the week at 10,366.16 points, an increase of 0.07 percent compared to the previous close.
In the Grand Bazaar, the gram selling price of 24-karat bullion gold rose by 0.62 percent throughout the week to reach 4,357 liras. Republic gold also saw the same rate of increase, finding buyers at 29,439 liras.
The price of quarter gold, which was sold at 7,252 liras last week, reached 7,297 liras with a 0.62 percent increase.
In the foreign exchange market, the US dollar gained 0.51 percent on a weekly basis, rising to the 40.3810 TL level. The euro/TL exchange rate increased by 0.20 percent to 47.1530 liras.
Investment funds generally gained 0.89 percent in value, while pension funds showed an increase of 0.53 percent. Among fund categories, the highest return was provided by "fund basket" funds with an increase of 1.03 percent.
