The new regulation prepared by the Ministry of National Education and published in the Official Gazette has brought an important change regarding the tenure of teachers. With the update made to the "Regulation on the Appointment and Relocation of Teachers Affiliated with the Ministry of National Education," a limit has been placed on the practice of long-term service in the same educational institution.

LIMIT IMPOSED ON LONG-TERM SERVICE

With the amendment made to Article 28 of the regulation, the maximum period a teacher can serve in the same school has been set at 12 years. If this period is exceeded, teachers will be subject to mandatory relocation.

MANDATORY APPOINTMENT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED 12 YEARS

According to the new regulation, the duty stations of teachers who have completed 12 years at their current school as of September 30 will be changed. Appointment procedures will be carried out within two months at the latest following the end of the academic year. Teachers' preferences will be taken into account during placements, and service points will be the basis for preference priority.

THOSE WHO DO NOT SUBMIT PREFERENCES WILL BE ASSIGNED EX OFFICIO

For teachers who do not submit any preferences or who cannot be placed according to their preferences, the process will be managed by the governorates. In this case, starting with the teachers who have served the longest in the same school, ex officio appointments will be made to districts where there is a need.
