AKOM issues warning to Istanbul residents with specific timing: Storm and downpours are coming!
AKOM has issued a warning against strong downpours and storms expected to affect Istanbul on Monday. Citizens are urged to be cautious against potential flooding and disruptions to transportation.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has issued a warning regarding the strong downpours and storms expected across the city on Monday.
According to AKOM's latest meteorological assessments, the weather, which remained mild and partly cloudy throughout the weekend, will give way to effective downpours and storms as of Monday.
The wind is expected to reach storm levels at times, blowing at speeds of 65 kilometers per hour. While it is estimated that 10 to 30 kilograms of precipitation per square meter will fall across the city, AKOM has called on citizens to be cautious, especially against water accumulation and flash floods.
The downpours are expected to continue their effect across Istanbul on Tuesday as well. From Wednesday onwards, the weather is forecast to return to a partly and mostly clear state.
