Fire in İzmir spreads to forest

A fire that broke out in a grassy area in the Buca district of İzmir quickly spread to the surrounding wooded area. An intensive air and ground intervention has been launched to bring the fire under control.

FIRE BROKE OUT IN GÖKDERE LOCALITY

The fire started for an as-yet-undetermined reason in a grassy area located next to the İzmir Ring Road in the Gökdere locality of Buca district. The flames, fueled by the wind, spread to the surrounding forest.

NUMEROUS TEAMS DISPATCHED

Following the report, Regional Directorate of Forestry teams, firefighting aircraft and helicopters, and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality fire department crews were dispatched to the area. The teams are continuing their efforts to bring the fire under control.

FLAMES THAT SPREAD TO FACTORY BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL

It was learned that during the fire, the flames also spread to a factory in the area. It was reported that the fire at the factory was brought under control through the intervention of the teams.

Meanwhile, while vehicle traffic on the İzmir Ring Road is being managed in a controlled manner, efforts to completely extinguish the fire are ongoing.
