Teams mobilized for forest fire in Ayvacık, Çanakkale
The forest fire that started near the village of Büyükhusun spread rapidly over a wide area as the wind intensity increased. Teams are making an intense effort to extinguish the fire from both the air and the ground.
A fire broke out in a forested area near the village of Büyükhusun in the Ayvacık district of Çanakkale today around 14:00. The smoke rising from the region soon became visible from surrounding villages.
While difficulties are being experienced in bringing the flames under control due to the effect of the wind, numerous teams affiliated with the Çanakkale Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the region upon notification of the incident. Both aerial vehicles and ground crews are working in coordination to intervene in the fire.
While no official statement has been made yet regarding the cause of the fire, citizens living in the region have also been informed as a precaution. Authorities stated that efforts are continuing uninterrupted to bring the fire under control as soon as possible.
