According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology: The country is expected to be partly to very cloudy, with downpours and thunderstorms forecast for the eastern Marmara, Eastern Mediterranean, southern and eastern Central Anatolia, the Black Sea, Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia, as well as the surroundings of Kırşehir and Çankırı. Sleet and snow are expected in the higher elevations of the interior Eastern Black Sea region and the higher elevations of northeastern Eastern Anatolia. Precipitation is expected to be strong in the coastal areas of the Central and Eastern Black Sea, the eastern part of Southeastern Anatolia, and the surroundings of Hatay, Osmaniye, Sinop, Bingöl, Muş, Ağrı, Bitlis, Hakkari, and Şırnak, as well as the coastal parts of Kastamonu, and very strong and severe in the surroundings of Rize and Artvin.
Air temperatures are expected to decrease by 3 to 5 degrees across the country.
Winds are expected to blow from the north, and over time from the south in the southeastern parts, generally light to occasionally moderate, and strong with short-term storms (40-70 km/h) from the north in Marmara, the Aegean coast, and the Eastern Black Sea coast.
PROVINCES UNDER YELLOW AND ORANGE CODE WARNINGS
On the warning map published by Meteorology, Artvin and Rize were issued an orange code warning, while yellow code warnings were issued for Giresun, Ordu, Samsun, Sinop, Şanlıurfa, Batman, Bartın, Diyarbakır, Kastamonu, Siirt, Trabzon, Zonguldak, Şırnak, and Düzce.
While precipitation is expected to be very strong and locally severe in Artvin and Rize, strong downpours are also expected to be effective in the other provinces under warning. Meteorology has urged citizens to be careful and take precautions against negative conditions such as flash floods, flooding, landslides, lightning, disruptions in transportation, and strong winds.
