Chief Presidential Advisor Mehmet Uçum makes striking remarks on Kurdish: 'It must be strengthened and made permanent'
Chief Presidential Advisor Mehmet Uçum has published a new installment in his series of Sunday articles regarding the new İmralı process. Emphasizing that the freedom of the Kurdish language must be strengthened and made permanent, Mehmet Uçum stated, "Thanks to the state's constructive approach, the goal is for Kurdish to attain its true identity."
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call on October 22 to PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to "apply for the right to hope and speak at the DEM Party Group Meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly," provided that he dissolves the organization, has caused a major stir in Turkey.
Presidential Chief Advisor Mehmet Uçum has become one of the prominent figures in this process, which is described as a "new solution process."
Mehmet Uçum has been sharing his messages regarding the process on social media through his Sunday articles since the very first day.
Presidential Chief Advisor Mehmet Uçum has published the latest in his series of Sunday articles regarding the new Imralı process. Uçum issued a 3-point call to the Kurds and made important statements regarding the Kurdish language.
Here is Mehmet Uçum's article titled "The State and the Kurds are a subject, not a problem!":
The agenda between the State and the Kurds in Turkey has begun to cease being a "problem" under the administrations of President Erdoğan and has increasingly turned into a "subject." It can be said that the transition from problem to subject is still ongoing. However, the "subject, not a problem" perspective has become the sovereign approach of the State.
Some use the term Kurdish problem to target Turkey's integrity through identity politics. Others continue to say Kurdish problem as if the Kurds themselves were a problem. However, today, from the perspective of the Republic of Turkey, there is no diagnosis of a Kurdish problem for Turkey's Kurds.
The forty-year-old terror problem is an imperialist operation that exploits not only Turkey's Kurds but all Kurds in the region, and it can never be described as a Kurdish problem.
SUBJECTS
The stage we have reached can be defined as a new stage where the State's relationship with the Kurds is about subjects, not problems.
The main points of these subjects can be expressed as follows:
1) The complete integration of all Kurds with the State by eradicating separatist tendencies at their root.
2) Like all elements of the Turkish Nation (all groups of the Turkish people, all segments of Turkish society), all Kurds taking full responsibility for the agenda of Turkey's democratic progress, development, and strengthening, embracing the Turkish perspective firmly, and owning Turkey without hesitation.
3) Strengthening and making permanent the freedom of the Kurdish language. Despite the State's constructive approach regarding Kurdish, eliminating any bad practices that could be called deviations. Enabling Kurdish to regain its true identity.
Reaching the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey is the fundamental condition for taking stronger and more established steps on these and other issues. That is why the call to lay down arms must be unconditional and will be unconditional. It is impossible to accept anything else. A situation that is a condition in itself cannot be tied to another condition. Let no one write imaginary scenarios or engage in deceptive constructs on this matter.
LIQUIDATION OF SEPARATIST PROJECTS
As a result of the efforts and policies the State has pursued since the beginning of this century, the fact that the Turkish nation and Turkish citizenship factually and legally encompass the Kurds, and the meaning of this, have become much more evident.
Despite all the doubts and black propaganda that some seek to create by referencing the bad practices of the twentieth century and especially the September 12 fascism, the names Turkish Nation and Turkish Citizenship are being noticed and embraced more by everyone with their inclusive content and depth.
Our legal system regulates Turkish citizenship not as an ethnic, religious, or racial bond, but as a legal bond. That is, no difference is taken into account in citizenship; the legal bond is the sole and determining measure. Furthermore, everyone who is a citizen has the same rights and duties. Therefore, we do not have a problem regarding equal citizenship in legal terms.
For this reason, Turkey's Kurds do not have a problem with proudly carrying the identity card in their pockets. There is also no emotional barrier to Kurds believing with all their hearts that they are true equal citizens of this country.
Undoubtedly, we do not have a legal or emotional problem regarding "equal citizenship," but ensuring that the feeling of "equality among all our citizens" prevails in practice is also our most important duty.
Likewise, it is clearly seen that Kurds are embracing the reality that Turkish is the dominant, unifying, and sole official language much more.
In other words, imperialist projects aimed at dividing Turkey, which are being developed through the nation, citizenship, and language, are being exposed more and more, it is understood that they have no social response, and the liquidation process of these projects is accelerating.
It is seen that the new State Initiative, which began with the efforts of President Erdoğan and Mr. Bahçeli, and the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey, have given high momentum to all these developments.
The essence of the matter is that a Terror-Free Turkey is not a result, but a beginning. With the transition to a Terror-Free Turkey, a new era will begin for both Turkey and the region.
