Ziraat Bank has issued an important warning to its customers through an announcement published on its website.

Publishing the list of accounts that will be subject to the statute of limitations for the year 2025, Ziraat Bank announced that the balances of account holders who do not apply within this period will be transferred to the SDIF (Savings Deposit Insurance Fund).

Every year in Turkey, hundreds of millions of dollars in total are wiped from deposit bank accounts, and account holders are unable to recover the lost funds even after they discover the situation.

According to a report in Gerçek Gündem, Ziraat Bank has published a list for customers who have forgotten their money in their accounts or have not used them for years, and has set a deadline. According to the announcement, if no application is made by June 15, 2025, all the money in the accounts of the individuals on the list will be reset to zero.

In the ongoing process, all remaining balances will be transferred to the SDIF (TMSF). Citizens who realize they are on the aforementioned list must visit Ziraat Bank branches as soon as possible to submit a petition regarding the matter by June 15.

Otherwise, it will not be possible to reclaim balances discovered after June 15. Ziraat Bank has launched a feature on its website that allows all customers to check whether they have any dormant balances.
