HOW IS KOMBUCHA MADE?

Although it may seem laborious, kombucha tea is a type of tea that you can very easily prepare and consume at home. You can have a pleasant day and relieve the tiredness of the day with the tea you will prepare using the methods we will describe to you. You can even give a nice surprise to your loved ones with the extra tea you prepare.

Almost everyone can very easily prepare kombucha, which is one of the most preferred drinks by people due to its taste and various benefits. The ingredients you need to prepare this tea are as follows:

  • 3 liters of water (the water here must be spring or source water)
  • Kombucha culture (yeast)
  • 1.5 cups, which is approximately 300 grams of granulated sugar
  • 9 or 10 bags of black tea (you can also prefer green tea)

To prepare kombucha, you should first add 3 liters of water into a pot and leave it to boil. Then, you should add 1.5 cups of sugar into the boiling water. You should leave the sugared water to boil for 5 minutes while stirring. You should not use a wooden spoon while stirring; the spoon you use should be metal.

After boiling the sugared water for 5 minutes, set it aside and add your tea to it. Let your tea steep for about 15 minutes. After your tea has steeped, remove the tea from the mixture with the help of a metal spoon. Then, leave your tea to cool.

Place the mixture you left to cool into a jar where you want to prepare your tea. Wash the kombucha yeast with the help of lukewarm water. Add the kombucha yeast into your mixture that has reached room temperature. The mouth of the jar should be closed in a way that allows air to pass through. For this reason, you should use cheesecloth and a rubber band for the closing process.

After closing the mouth of your jar, leave it to ferment for 4-10 days. During this process, your jar should not be exposed to direct sunlight and should wait at room temperature. At the end of ten days, you can enjoy your fermented tea.
