CLASSIFIED AS CARCINOGENIC

The International Agency for Research on Cancer, a UN organization, classifies black carbon particles as carcinogenic.

The American Heart Association, meanwhile, warns that these particles can lead to premature deaths caused by cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes.
