Research: Those who hit the snooze button in the morning are making a smart choice

Research: Those who hit the snooze button in the morning are making a smart choice

A study published in the Journal of Sleep Research revealed that more than two-thirds of people set multiple alarms or at least snooze them occasionally.

These snoozers have a late-night sleep rate nearly four times higher than people who never snooze their alarms, and they are on average six years younger than those who do not snooze.

Researchers conducted an experiment with 31 people who snooze their alarms at least twice a week to compare their mental abilities after snoozing versus having to wake up with the first alarm, and the result of the experiment discovered that those who snooze their alarms were the group that responded faster in mental performance.

IT SHOWS THEY ARE MORE CREATIVE AND FLEXIBLE

According to the research, sleeping for another half hour instead of getting up immediately when the alarm goes off allows the brain to work better. This shows that those who snooze are more creative and flexible than those who get up.

Dr. Tina Sundelin from Stockholm University said, "Snoozing can help you feel more alert and perform better in the mornings. This shows that those who snooze are actually making a smart choice."

The research presents the results of an online survey filled out by 1,732 people in Sweden, the USA, the UK, Finland, and Australia.
