32 people sent to prison in Maydonoz Döner operation
In the investigation conducted into the Maydonoz Döner restaurant chain over alleged links to FETÖ, 32 of the 63 individuals detained have been arrested.
A significant development has occurred in the FETÖ investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Maydonoz Döner, for which the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) has appointed trustees. Of the 63 suspects detained within the scope of the investigation, 32 have been arrested and sent to prison.
The investigation came to the agenda with the "Kıskaç-40" operations launched on February 21. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office determined that Maydonoz Döner officials had transferred money to individuals linked to FETÖ through personal and corporate accounts. It was determined that most of these individuals were soldiers, teachers, and public officials dismissed by Statutory Decree (KHK). It was stated that the money transfers were made to strengthen ties with the organization and prevent defections.
According to Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) reports, 74 Maydonoz Döner branches were examined, and it was revealed that 29 branches provided employment by granting unofficial partnerships to individuals who had previously undergone FETÖ investigations. In simultaneous operations carried out in 8 provinces centered in Istanbul on June 24, all suspects were apprehended and taken into custody.
