Former Parliament Speaker Bülent Arınç brought the Constitutional Court's ruling regarding Tayfun Kahraman, who is imprisoned as part of the Gezi Park trial, to the agenda in a statement made on his social media account.
Arınç recalled that the Constitutional Court had ruled that the right to a fair trial was violated in Kahraman's individual application and ordered a retrial.
"THEY SHOULD READ THE RULING ONCE MORE"
Emphasizing law and justice, Arınç stated, "I am a legal professional. Those who prioritize law and justice should read the Constitutional Court's second ruling on Tayfun Kahraman once more and see what a violation of rights in a fair trial means."
Stating that necessary actions can be taken if there is suspicion of a crime and strong evidence in investigations, Arınç nevertheless said that procedures in the Criminal Procedure Code must be followed and the humanitarian aspect of the process must also be considered.
Continuing his criticisms regarding detention processes, Arınç said, "We need to act much more seriously, legally, and humanely in investigations. I know there are still people waiting for a case to be filed against them for 8 or 9 months."
At the end of his statement, Arınç made a call with the words, "If these tears touch the wrath of God (Gayretullah), we cannot find salvation in Turkey; I fear this. Please, let the tears cease, let the suffering cease."
