'Loan sharking' investigation in the banking sector in Istanbul: Three people in custody

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched a large-scale investigation into serious allegations against Q Yatırım Bankası. It is alleged that the bank provided illegal loans to companies experiencing financial difficulties by charging interest rates above those set by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.

In this context, it was reported that bank official Ali Ercan, along with Yaser Mitrani and Mehmet Aydoğdu, have been detained. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau of Investigation for Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes, which is conducting the investigation, stated that there is strong suspicion of criminal activity regarding the laundering of proceeds obtained through the bank.
