MASAK report puts Kuriş family's property and money traffic under the microscope

The MASAK report, prepared as part of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime Investigation Bureau's probe into Alihan Kuriş, includes striking financial movements related to Kuriş's family and close circle.

The investigation is being conducted under the charges of laundering assets derived from crime, fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations, and opposition to the Tax Procedure Law. The MASAK report dated August 20 examined the assets, bank movements, vehicle registrations, company partnerships, and real estate transfers of Alihan Kuriş, as well as his wife, parents, sibling, grandmother, and his wife's family members.

It was stated that, in line with the prosecutor's request, the focus was particularly on the enrichment and changes in assets after January 1, 2016. One of the prominent topics in the report was the intense transaction traffic seen in the Land Registry and Cadastre Information System (TAKBİS) records.

FINANCIAL MOVEMENTS HIGHLIGHTED IN THE REPORT

According to the MASAK report, 646 real estate transaction records were identified in the name of Alihan Kuriş's mother A.G.D.K., 539 in the name of his grandmother N.K., 207 in the name of his father M.S.K., and 426 in the name of his wife S.K.'s father M.K. Thus, a total of 1,818 TAKBİS transaction records were reached through these four individuals.

It was noted that the real estate movements related to Alihan Kuriş's brother, Hilmi Tuna Kuriş, intensified particularly in the 2024-2026 period. The report stated that after his father's death, some fields and plots in Adapazarı and Sultanbeyli were transferred to Hilmi Tuna Kuriş; and that on February 14, 2025, the termination of joint ownership, share and identity corrections, and sales transactions were carried out consecutively on the same properties.

The report also reflected that there were execution liens, precautionary measures, a "transaction cannot be made unless the owner comes in person" annotation, and two separate seizure decisions on some of the properties belonging to Hilmi Tuna Kuriş. It was stated that the banking transfer traffic reached tens of millions of liras.

The report stated that there was no real estate in the name of Alihan Kuriş's wife S.K., and that there were two cars in the vehicle records. Regarding the financing of one of these vehicles, it was determined that 2 million 406 thousand 650 TL was sent from Mehmet Özmen to S.K.'s account on September 5, 2023, and the money was transferred to an automotive company on the same day.

The year 2023 was also considered a remarkable turning point for S.K.'s brother A.N.B. According to the report, A.N.B.'s bank transaction volume increased approximately fivefold as of 2023 compared to previous years. It was stated that all five fields registered in the name of A.N.B. were acquired on October 2, 2023, that F.K. was the counterparty in the transactions, and that the total surface area of the properties was approximately 18 thousand 700 square meters.

No company partnership, vehicle, or real estate record was found in the name of Z.K., the mother of Alihan Kuriş's wife. However, in the 2016-2026 period, over 5.55 million TL of money inflow and approximately 3.8 million TL of money outflow were recorded in her accounts. The total two-way transfer volume exceeded 9.3 million TL.

Within the scope of the investigation, bank receipts, land registry transaction files, sales prices, company balance sheets, tax returns, and vehicle payment records are expected to be compared. It is stated that the final legal assessment will be made after the MASAK data and other evidence to be collected by the prosecutor's office are examined together.
