Melek Çiçek, the wife of Menderes Mayor Ilkay Çiçek, who has been taken into custody, and his lawyer Atalay Aksay have issued a statement regarding messages circulating on social media that are alleged to belong to Çiçek.
Melek Çiçek argued that the messages in question are not real, stating that they were "prepared using artificial intelligence."
Çiçek's lawyer, Atalay Aksay, stated that they would have a technical examination conducted regarding the allegations. Aksay said, "We will have an expert review conducted ourselves and send these to the press."
