A post containing an "attack" threat made from an anonymous social media account opened in the name of a high school in Arnavutköy, Istanbul, caused concern among students and parents. Upon the reporting of the posts, police teams launched an investigation.

Using the name of Arnavutköy Anatolian High School, the account shared false statements yesterday evening claiming that an attack would be carried out at the school today. Following the rapid spread of the posts, the school administration and parents reported the situation to the police.

Following the reports, teams from the Arnavutköy District Police Department increased security measures at and around the school starting in the morning hours. While stationary police units were assigned to the school perimeter, patrol checks were also intensified.

The Juvenile Bureau teams conducted a technical investigation to identify the individuals managing the fake account. It was learned that the suspects' addresses were reached through IP information linked to the use of the account.

Within the scope of the investigation, two children identified as M.P. and Ş.Ö., who were determined to be managing the social media account, were detained. It was stated that M.P. is a 10th-grade student at Arnavutköy Anatolian High School, and that Ş.Ö. is in the same age group but does not attend the school.

It was learned that the two children, who stated in their initial statements to the police that they made the posts "as a joke," are expected to be referred to the courthouse following their procedures on charges of "inciting the public to fear and panic." Police investigations determined that the posts regarding an attack to be carried out at the school were baseless.
