Voice of America New York Correspondent Mehmet Sümer made a post on his social media account regarding Eylem Tok and her son.

Sümer wrote that Tok and her son offered to pay 4 times the price to stay at a hotel without being registered.

"Eylem Tok and her son reached out to the management of a 5-star hotel in Manhattan through an American individual who claimed to be their lawyer, requesting that their names not be included on the hotel's guest list.

The intermediary offered to pay approximately 4 times the normal room rate if the hotel accepted this. However, the hotel general manager, whom I spoke with personally, said they rejected the offer."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

In Eyüpsultan on March 1, 17-year-old driver T.C., who hit ATV-type vehicles on the side of the road with the car he was driving, causing the death of Oğuz Murat Acı and injuring I.G., T.A., S.K., and H.T., fled to Egypt from Istanbul Airport with his mother Eylem Tok after the accident, and subsequently went to the United States.

As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an arrest warrant was issued for the driver T.C. and his mother, the author Eylem Tok. Subsequently, the extradition of the suspects to Turkey was requested both through diplomatic channels and via Interpol.

Istanbul Police Department teams had launched an investigation after the phone of I.G., who was injured in the accident, could not be found.

As a result of the efforts, the teams determined that Z.H.T., who witnessed the accident, had taken the phone to help one of the injured and had taken it away by mistake, and later left the mobile phone on the wall of the site.

The teams determined that the mobile phone, which was kept by the site's security guards, was taken by B.Ö., the mother of D.Ö., who also witnessed the accident, and that Eylem Tok, the mother of the 17-year-old driver T.C. who caused the accident, was also there at that time.

In the subsequent investigation, it was determined that the phone was placed in the vehicle used by A.K. when Tok arrived at the site, and was found by the driver himself during the inspection of the vehicle. The phone was delivered to the police by A.K.
