Singer Mehmet Önder Doğan, known as Murda, who was tried with a request for up to 10 years in prison for allegedly encouraging drug use in his songs, had been sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison. Dutch singer Murda, was taken into custody last October at Sabiha Gökçen Airport following his entry into the country, in accordance with an arrest warrant issued against him.

The famous singer, who was tried with a request for up to 10 years in prison for allegedly encouraging drug use in his songs, was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison.

CONVICTION OVERTURNED

The Istanbul Court of Appeals, as a result of its review, Mehmet Önder Doğan has overturned the conviction issued against him.

Establishing a new verdict, the Court of Appeals acquitted the famous singer on the grounds that "the defendant had no criminal intent due to the song lyrics being works of art."
