Prof. Dr. Alper Demirbaş, who made a name for himself with countless organ transplant and general surgery operations, has passed away at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
60-year-old Alper Demirbaş, who had undergone surgery for lung cancer at a hospital in Istanbul some time ago and returned to Antalya, was admitted to Akdeniz University Hospital due to an infection.
Demirbaş, who was receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, passed away despite all interventions.
HE ENABLED MANY PEOPLE TO REGAIN THEIR HEALTH
Demirbaş had enabled many people to regain their health by performing countless organ transplant surgeries both domestically and internationally.
Demirbaş was also the person who performed Turkey's first incompatible-tissue kidney transplant, the first blood-type incompatible kidney transplant, the first kidney-pancreas transplant program, and the first cadaveric and living-donor liver transplant in Antalya.
Demirbaş had been forced to leave his post on October 25, 2023, following his illness.
