Gezeravcı addressed the world and the Turkish nation with the following words: "At this moment, as the first Turk steps into space on Turkey's first manned space mission, I would like to begin my words with this quote from our great ancestor. The brilliant words of the founder of our Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk: 'The future is in the skies.'"
