115 YEARS OF HISTORY

According to the BBC, the organizers of the Flatpack Festival, who have used the venue in Birmingham for 18 years, state that they were told the building could not be used this year because the lease agreement had expired.

The 115-year-old Electric Cinema, which features an Art Deco facade, had two screens where both 35mm and digital films were shown.

Built in a converted taxi rank on Station Street in the city of Birmingham, the cinema began showing its first films on December 27, 1909, with piano-accompanied silent films.
