Master actor Ahmet Uğurlu laid to rest

Ahmet Uğurlu, a master of Turkish cinema and theater, passed away yesterday. The sad news was announced by the artist's wife, Necef Uğurlu, in a message to close friends. The master actor was laid to rest in Istanbul today.

TV and film actor Ahmet Uğurlu was laid to rest today at the Anadolu Hisarı Cemetery following the noon prayer held at the Şakirin Mosque.

The funeral ceremony was attended by many figures from the art and social world, most notably Ahmet Uğurlu's wife Necef Uğurlu, his son Orhan Uğurlu, Mustafa Uğurlu, Tamer Karadağlı, and Derviş Zaim.

The death of Uğurlu, who became widely known for his character 'Mahsun' in the film 'Somersault in a Coffin' (Tabutta Rövaşata), has plunged the art community into mourning.

WHO IS AHMET UĞURLU

Born in Konya in 1952, Ahmet Uğurlu graduated from the Ankara State Conservatory, Department of Theater. Starting his artistic life at the State Theaters, Uğurlu had a successful career there for 13 years, taking part in various plays.

In addition to theater, the artist, who also took on important roles in the world of cinema, stepped into his cinema career with the film "Mine".

Ahmet Uğurlu made a big breakthrough with the character 'Mahsun' he played in the film "Somersault in a Coffin" (Tabutta Rövaşata), directed by Derviş Zaim, and won many awards. Throughout his career, he acted in many TV series and films such as Faint Sound, Avcı, Memleket Meselesi, Döngel Kârhanesi, Yol Ayrımı, and Behzat Ç.

Uğurlu, who won the hearts of the audience with his performances, became an artist who left his mark on the world of Turkish cinema and theater.

The film "Somersault in a Coffin", one of Uğurlu's best-known performances, brought him many awards and took its place among the important works of Turkish cinema.

Ahmet Uğurlu was deemed worthy of countless awards for the superior performances he displayed throughout his artistic career.

Ahmet Uğurlu passed away on May 30, 2024.
