Having met with audiences on the theater stage for over 40 years, Behzat Uygur, expressed his feelings and thoughts on 'World Theater Day'.

Uygur, who has made it his mission to pass on the school of his father, Nejat Uygur, who earned a place in the hearts of the audience with the characters he played in theater, his humor, and his sincere demeanor, said, "Happy day to all the workers who take the stage not for a whim, but with love." he said.

'THERE ARE LOCAL GOVERNMENTS THAT ISSUE 18 THOUSAND TL FINES'

Complaining about the high cost of theater tickets, the master actor said, "We are making great efforts not to raise theater ticket prices. We are in dialogue with organizations and ticket companies. We are also involving local governments in this. There are local governments that respond. However, there are also local governments that issue 18,000 TL fines for a poster we put up.

At this point, we are trying to keep ticket prices between 400 and 450 TL. Ticket prices should be at levels everyone can afford." he stated.

'EVERYTHING THAT IS BANNED GAINS PRESTIGE'

Stating that censorship is very difficult on theater stages, Uygur said, "The concept of censorship does not work in theater. There are many ways to express oneself in theater. A theater actor conveys what they want to the audience in the way they choose. Moreover, it should not be forgotten that everything that is banned gains more prestige." he added.
