Özcan Deniz responds to claims that he 'did not celebrate the Republic'

Singer Özcan Deniz gave a concert in Cyprus on October 28. Deniz made a statement following the claim that he did not celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic.

Özcan Deniz used the following expressions:

The claim that I did not celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic at my concert at the Elexus Hotel in Cyprus on October 28 is a big lie and an assassination.

Although my filming schedule was starting on October 30, and despite the fact that I went on stage dressed in black due to what is happening in Palestine, I did not have this special night cancelled. I wanted to be on stage and celebrate with enthusiasm during this special 100th-year celebration that I will never be able to experience again in my life.

Since the concert was not recorded, I cannot access the footage. However, if any of the nearly one thousand audience members who attended the concert recorded my long speech about the Republic and my celebration—which I delivered right after the first song and at the end of the program, and which was filled with substance and conveyed my true feelings rather than just being empty words—I request that they publish them.

The fact that I could not sing the 10th Year March in the finale is entirely due to an organizational confusion caused by my conductor and me misunderstanding each other.

However, it is not true that I did not celebrate. On the contrary, all the audience members who attended are witnesses to my Republic speech and celebration, which I delivered sincerely and which was constantly interrupted by applause. I will share it as soon as I obtain the recording."
