Renowned architect Neşet Arolat passes away

Renowned architect Neşet Arolat, who was behind numerous award-winning projects in Turkey, has passed away due to age-related illnesses.

Neşet Arolat’s funeral will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, following the noon prayer at Levent Afet Yolal Mosque, after which he will be laid to rest at Hasdal Cemetery.

WHO IS NEŞET AROLAT?

Neşet Arolat was born in Ankara in 1934. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 1959.

He worked in Stuttgart between 1959 and 1960. In 1961, he opened his own office in Ankara with Şaziment Arolat. He moved his office to Istanbul in 1968. He received the “Building Category Achievement Award” in 1992 and the “Architectural Achievement Award” in 1988. He holds 16 first-place, 6 second-place, 3 third-place, and 14 honorable mention awards in architectural competitions.

In 2008, he joined EAA-Emre Arolat Architecture.
