Battery charging at home explodes, causing fire
In the Derince district of Kocaeli, a bicycle battery being charged at home exploded, causing a fire. Windows shattered by the blast damaged several vehicles, while the fire was extinguished by firefighting crews.
The incident occurred on the 4th floor of a 5-story building on İstiklal Street in the Derince district. According to the information obtained, Tekin C. had plugged the battery belonging to his motorcycle into a charger at home.
While no one was in the house, the battery exploded with a loud noise during charging. A fire broke out following the explosion, and the house's windows shattered and scattered into the surroundings.
As a result of the flying glass shards, some vehicles parked in front of the house sustained material damage. Due to the intensity of the explosion, apartment residents panicked and ran outside, thinking an earthquake had occurred.

Upon notification, police, medical, and firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene. The crews quickly brought the fire that broke out after the explosion under control and extinguished it.
While there were no injuries in the incident, the house became unusable due to the impact of the explosion. Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
