He shot his wife while cleaning his rifle

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon in the Önen Bay area of Urla district. According to allegations, T.A., who was cleaning his rifle inside a vehicle, accidentally discharged the weapon; the bullet passed through the vehicle's bodywork and struck his wife, Burçin Razak A. (32), who was in front of the vehicle at the time.

Upon notification, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

Medical teams determined that Akyürek had lost her life at the scene. T.A. was taken into custody along with the rifle used in the incident.

It was learned that in his initial statement at the police station, T.A. claimed that the rifle accidentally discharged while he was cleaning it and that the bullet passed through the vehicle's bodywork to strike his wife.

Meanwhile, it was stated that the couple had arrived at Önen Bay 2 days ago for camping.

The investigation initiated into the incident is ongoing.
