Mistook him for a wild boar, opened fire and killed his relative
In Adana, a young man in a group out hunting wild boars opened fire after hearing a noise from the bushes, thinking he was shooting a boar, and killed his relative.
The incident occurred on January 1 around 09:30 in the Küçükçınar neighborhood of the Çukurova district. According to allegations, Yusuf U. (20) went hunting for wild boars with his friends and his relative, Doğan Açıkgöz (59).
The group split up and began scouting the brushy terrain. Hearing a sound coming from the bushes, Yusuf U. opened fire in that direction with his hunting rifle.
Afterward, Yusuf U. went to the spot where he had fired and saw that he had shot his relative, Doğan Açıkgöz.
Yusuf U. immediately reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the area.
Medical teams arriving at the scene determined that Doğan Açıkgöz had died. Açıkgöz's body was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy. Following the autopsy, Açıkgöz's funeral was held.
Yusuf U. was taken into custody by gendarmerie teams.
