Some roads in Istanbul closed to traffic for cycling and running events
Due to cycling and running organizations, some roads on both sides of Istanbul have been closed to vehicle traffic; drivers have been warned to use alternative routes.
Due to cycling and running events held in Istanbul, temporary traffic arrangements have been made on the European and Asian sides. Some roads along the event routes in the Beykoz, Ümraniye, Beşiktaş, Beyoğlu, and Fatih districts have been closed to vehicle traffic until the organizations are completed.
According to the announcement by the Istanbul Police Department, the closures began as of 06:00. Drivers who will use the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and TEM connections, in particular, were asked to check their routes before traveling.
Among the main lines closed to traffic are the TEM South road, starting from the TEM South Maslak exit and extending over the FSM Bridge to the TEM South Çamlık exit, as well as the roads connecting to this route.
Authorities have called on drivers to prefer alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion due to the closed routes. In this context, Büyükdere Street, Anadolu Hisarı, the Northern Marmara Motorway, Fevzipaşa Street, and the Galata Bridge were indicated as alternative routes.
The closed roads are expected to be gradually reopened to traffic after the events conclude.
